National Recycling Week – 2017
On Monday the 13th of November we will be celebrating another National Recycling Week. Since 1996 Planet Ark have been doing an amazing job bringing national focus to the benefits of recycling. While there are many things you can recycle around the office there are a lot of things you cannot recycle.
Cardboard boxes, newspapers, notebook papers, plastic bottles, aluminium cans, are all things you can find around the house and workspace that can and should be recycled. Some of the benefits of recycling are that is reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and combustion facilities, it also reduces pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials and it reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change.
Now let’s talk about the benefits of shredding your company documents. Documents can leave a cluttered mess around your workspace and really leave workers in poor spirits. Shredding company documents (when legal to do so.) can boost morale and leave your workspace looking brand new. There are plenty of companies that will come to your workplace take the documents that need to be shredded take it back to their depot and shred them and then you will get a certificate to prove that it has been done. The documents that have been shredded will obviously be 100% recycled.
Now there are many things around the workplace that cannot be recycled but they can be shredded, they include, personal documents, old blank letterheads, legal papers, banking and financial papers, hard drives, USBS and uniforms.
There are plenty of ways to get you, your friends and family involved in National Recycling Week 2017. You can get your household involved, your school and of course your work place. You can hold a recycle drive, set up a new recycling system, join a collection program or even start buying recycled products. I hope you do get involved and start to make the world a better place for us and future generations.
